Phylogenetic Studies on Plant Cold Shock Domain Proteins
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cold shock proteins are nucleic acid-binding proteins. They are well conserved in bacteria, animals as well as plants. Prokaryotic CSPs possess a single cold shock domain while animal CSPs are flanked by Nand C-terminal domains. Eukaryotic CSPs are commonly named Y-box proteins. Interestingly, the plants CSPs contain a C-terminal domain in addition to their N-terminal CSD. The CSPs have been reported to have important role in development and stress adaptation in various plant species. Main objective of this study was to perform molecular phylogeny studies on different plant CSPs.. KeywordsCSP, N-terminal, C-terminal. , Phylogeny

High DNA melting activity of extremophyte Eutrema salsugineum cold shock domain proteins EsCSDP1 and EsCSDP3
Plant cold shock domain proteins (CSDP) participate in maintenance of plant stress tolerance and in regulating their development. In the present paper we show that two out of three extremophyte plant Eutrema salsugineum proteins EsCSDP1-3, namely EsCSDP1 and EsCSDP3, possess high DNA-melting activity. DNA-melting activity of proteins was evaluated using molecular beacon assay in two ways: by me...
متن کاملPleiotropic Roles of Cold Shock Domain Proteins in Plants
The cold shock domain (CSD) is a nucleic acid binding domain that is widely conserved from bacteria to higher plants and animals. In Escherichia coli, cold shock proteins (CSPs) are composed solely of a CSD and function as RNA chaperones that destabilize RNA secondary structures. Cellular RNAs tend to be folded into unfavorable structures under low temperature conditions, and RNA chaperones res...

Abiotic stresses are the most important factors that reduce the yield of crops. In this case, Bioinformatics analysis plays an important role to study genes, and their relatedness as well as prediction their function in response to abiotic stresses. Among all domains, ARID-PHD domain has been identified in plants and animals and has a very significant role in growth regulation, cell cycle, and ...
متن کاملCold shock domain proteins and glycine-rich RNA-binding proteins from Arabidopsis thaliana can promote the cold adaptation process in Escherichia coli
Despite the fact that cold shock domain proteins (CSDPs) and glycine-rich RNA-binding proteins (GRPs) have been implicated to play a role during the cold adaptation process, their importance and function in eukaryotes, including plants, are largely unknown. To understand the functional role of plant CSDPs and GRPs in the cold response, two CSDPs (CSDP1 and CSDP2) and three GRPs (GRP2, GRP4 and ...
متن کاملCold shock domain protein 3 regulates freezing tolerance in Arabidopsis thaliana.
In response to cold, Escherichia coli produces cold shock proteins (CSPs) that have essential roles in cold adaptation as RNA chaperones. Here, we demonstrate that Arabidopsis cold shock domain protein 3 (AtCSP3), which shares a cold shock domain with bacterial CSPs, is involved in the acquisition of freezing tolerance in plants. AtCSP3 complemented a cold-sensitive phenotype of the E. coli CSP...
